My Style
I am direct, empathic, and creative. You can expect a dynamic conversation where we travel through your story with mutual curiosity. I will let you know what stands out for me in your story and ask you questions about parts of your story that seem neglected or overlooked. We will use our relationship and our conversations to broaden your experience of yourself, your relationships, and the events that have shaped you so that you can move into fresh territory where new choices and avenues of action seem possible.
Why Therapy?
Individual therapy can be a way to grow, heal, or just find support that is difficult to find in ordinary relationships. While it can delve into painful parts of your experience, it also often feels great. We will start with your current concerns and I will learn more about you as we move through your story. We can focus on a clear goal, or shift around as new dilemmas and questions come up in your life. We will always be looking for opportunities for you to practice new ways of being, which might include processing challenges that come up in therapy itself. Our conversations will be collaborative and will center you as the expert in your own life.
My Specialties
I specialize in relational issues, major life transitions, grief, and anxiety. That said, people are complex and your session is a place to bring up anything that you are struggling with. I have experience with childhood sexual abuse, complex trauma, depression, personality disorders, and addiction (among other struggles). The most important thing is to find a therapist who you like and who feels right.
